Dr. Stephanie Anismatta
Healing is Possible. Evidenced-Based Therapy for Real, Lasting Change.
1.
Individual
Psychotherapy
Therapy that's built around you, not a template. I use proven, research-backed treatments — including EMDR, CBT, DBT, ERP, and Trauma-Focused CBT — to help you work through what's holding you back. Whether you're struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression, OCD, or grief, we'll find the approach that fits your needs and your life.
2.
Parent Management Training
Parenting is hard — especially when your child is struggling. PMT helps you understand what's driving your child's behavior and gives you practical, effective strategies to respond with confidence. We'll work together to strengthen your relationship with your child while reducing conflict and stress at home.
3.
Forensic Evaluations
I conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations for legal, occupational, and clinical purposes — including fitness for duty, personal injury, and psychosocial evaluations for children and adults. Each evaluation includes a thorough clinical interview, review of collateral records, psychological testing, and a detailed written report.
My Approach
I believe two things are true at once: therapy needs to be warm and human, and it needs to actually work. That's why I combine genuine empathy and a strong therapeutic relationship with treatments that have real evidence behind them. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach — every person I work with gets a treatment plan tailored to their specific goals, history, and readiness to change.

About me
I'm Dr. Stephanie Anismatta, a licensed psychologist in New York and New Jersey, also certified to practice via telehealth across PSYPACT participating states. My background is unusually broad — I've worked in schools, inpatient and outpatient settings, forensic contexts, hospitals, and private practice. That range means I bring a depth of perspective to every client I see, regardless of age or what they're facing.
I earned my Doctorate in Psychology from Rutgers University's GSAPP program and completed APA-accredited postdoctoral training at the Audrey Hepburn Children's House at Hackensack University Medical Center. I also speak Arabic and welcome Arabic-speaking clients seeking a culturally attuned provider.
I offer out-of-network services and provide a superbill after each session for insurance reimbursement. Many clients are surprised by what their plan covers — I'm happy to help you understand your benefits.
